May 8, 9 & 10th 10am - 4pm (1 hr. break for lunch)
$325 for 3 days Join Russ and fellow students for this 3 day intensive workshop with demonstrations each day. Learn how to compose the portrait on the canvas and how to get an immediate likeness with the initial block in. Then proceeding in developing the portrait with light, form and color. This workshop focuses on the principles and practices essential to achieve a convincing, dimensional and well executed portrait in oils. These principles will be analyzed in a logical sequence beginning with block-in and continuing through fine tuning color and value. This is an information packed workshop for the experienced painter or the beginner. The workshop will cover breaking down the painting process into stages and building the painting through awareness of main angles, masses, structure, anatomical landmarks, values and color relationships, edges and creating a focal point. Working with fabric will also be covered. The workshop will include a morning demo covering the day’s work. Working with an awareness of stages and focusing on specific information necessary to each stage will allow the painter to be in control of their canvas. Click here to register for Russell's Class |
