I'm pleased to present Exposed, an exhibition by local photographer Tom Gigliotti
During his 30 years as a professional photographer, Tom developed a unique photographic image-transfer process using Teslin synthetic paper. The resulting photographs revealed an abstract, irregular texture in the neutral areas of the paper giving the image a painted quality. In the digitalal era, it was common to use Type 59 Poloroid film as a visual aid in checking for exposure, composition, and focus before exposing your final film. The unique aspect to Tom's technique is the use of the Teslin paper in the process as apposed to other textured paper. "The Polaroid transfer process always intrigued me." Tom said. "The chemistry involved in that process presents an opportunity to introduce this different type of paper to the equation, resulting in one-of-a-kind images with characteristics that could only be produced with this technique. Exposed features a collection of Tom's distinctive prints of various common objects using his Teslin paper process. With this Type 59 Polaroid film no longer being commercially produced, photographs created using this process are now even more rare. This is Tom's first solo show since a successful show of work in the mid 80's called South Side Men at the Blatant Image Gallery. Tom is next planning to show his documentary work of Perry County Fair 1992 in the near future. |

About Gilberti Fine Art
In early 2016 after packing up her artwork from an exhibit on Fifth Avenue in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, Artist Cindy Gilberti, decided there was a lack of art presence in town. Inspired by the beautification and renovation of the Coraopolis train station and nearby businesses, she felt the need to create a venue where artists and aspiring artists could have a place to go and learn various mediums.
As former President of West Hills Art League, Cindy made many connections with regional artists and it has become her goal to bring these artists together while also creating a personal studio for herself. Gilberti Fine Art was born.
